The Secretary-General of the Shura Council holds a discussion session with the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union about launching the Council’s qualitative and exemplary report to support sustainability in legislative work.

Karima Muhammad Al-Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, held a session of discussions with Martin Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, regarding the launch by the General Secretariat of the Shura Council of a qualitative and exemplary report considered the first of its kind at the level of legislative councils in the international system, which deals with the performance of the Shura Council to ensure the sustainability of legislative work, and represents a comprehensive analytical framework in the areas of the environment. During the discussion session, which took place on the sidelines of the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in the city of Geneva in the Swiss Confederation, the Secretary-General of the Shura Council presented a copy of the report to the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, stressing the keenness of the General Secretariat of the Council to exchange experiences and expertise with international parliaments, and to inform them of the General Secretariat’s continued efforts to develop its systems and procedures in line with the latest international practices. In the field of supporting and assisting Their Excellencies Council members, especially in the field of digital transformation and the optimal use of artificial intelligence technologies.

The Secretary-General of the Shura Council appreciated the support and assistance of Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and His Excellency’s continuous interest and follow-up of all development plans and programs in the work of the General Secretariat, stressing that the issuance of the detailed and comprehensive report translates into reliance on advanced systems in quality and governance, and reflects a national commitment to supporting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain for sustainable development and progress in various fields.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed great praise and appreciation for the qualitative and research effort in preparing a valuable report that reflects the commitment of the General Secretariat of the Shura Council to support sustainable development goals, and confirms the role of legislative and parliamentary work in achieving development goals and aspirations, appreciating the outstanding contributions of the General Secretariat of the Council and its keenness to inform the General Secretariats of national parliaments of the efforts they provide.
