The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen and the Yemeni government signed two development agreements and a memorandum of cooperation. These agreements aim to support the Yemeni government’s efforts to enhance economic stability, improve basic services, and build institutional capabilities. This step comes within the framework of the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni people, which reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to stability and development in the region.
Budget support and oil derivatives
The signed agreements included an agreement to support the Yemeni government’s budget deficit, in response to the government’s priorities in facing urgent economic and development challenges. This agreement also aims to lay the foundations for economic, financial and monetary stability in Yemen, in addition to an agreement to supply the government with the oil derivatives necessary to operate power plants in various governorates, which contributes to improving the level of services and increasing electricity operating hours, and reduces the burden on the bank. The Central Bank of Yemen provides hard currency to purchase fuel from global markets.
Strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Interior
The agreements also included a memorandum of cooperation between the program and the Yemeni Ministry of Interior.
