The Northern Region Municipality continues the Tree Week activities that were held on the Hamad Town Walk 1209, in cooperation with the Municipal Council, Friends of the Parks, and the Abdul Rahman Kanoo Parents’ Social Club.
The event witnessed wide participation from people and those concerned with the environment, as a number of trees were planted on the walkway with the aim of enhancing the green area and improving the aesthetic appearance of the area, in addition to distributing seedlings to citizens through the mobile nursery of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, in an initiative aimed at encouraging home agriculture and spreading awareness of the importance of afforestation and its role in environmental sustainability.
The Northern Region Municipality confirmed that these initiatives come within the framework of supporting the national plan for afforestation and sustainable development, and enhancing the spirit of community participation in preserving the environment, thanking all participating parties and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
In this context, the President of the Northern Municipal Council, Mr. Shubar Al-Wadaei, praised the efforts of the Northern Region Municipality in organizing this event, stressing that Tree Week represents an opportunity to enhance environmental awareness and consolidate the culture of afforestation among segments of society, pointing out the importance of continuing cooperation between official and private bodies to achieve the goals of sustainable development and protect the environment for future generations.
For his part, a member of the Friends of the Gardens team, Mr. Tawfiq Al-Saeed, expressed his pride in the team’s participation in the Tree Week activities, praising the role of the municipality and the municipal council in enhancing community awareness regarding the importance of agriculture and preserving green spaces, stressing that afforestation initiatives contribute to raising environmental awareness and consolidating the culture of volunteer work to serve the environment and society.
The Northern Region Municipality concluded its news by emphasizing the continuation of its efforts in implementing afforestation and urban beautification initiatives within its vision aimed at raising the quality of life and enhancing environmental sustainability in various regions of the governorate.
