Hani Ramzy, the former Egyptian national team and Al-Ahly club star, expressed his great happiness with the national team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, stressing that the performance in the Djibouti match was good, and that the team well deserved to qualify, but at the same time he stressed the importance of serious preparation for the next stage, away from public pressure or social media opinions.

Ramzi said during television statements: “The match was relatively easy, but the most important thing is that we entered the match strong and scored two goals early, and the substitutions were logical. The technical staff did a great job, and it is credited with getting the team to the World Cup in this distinguished way.”
Commenting on the statements of Hani Abu Rida, President of the Football Association, in which he explained that the appointment of Hossam Hassan came in response to the desire of the fans, Ramzi said: “The national team’s decisions must be based on a clear technical vision and a long-term plan, not on street pressure or social media reactions.”
He added: “What we saw from Hossam Hassan confirms that he is capable of leading the team technically in the World Cup, and his contract is extended until the end of the tournament, and we must support him to achieve technical stability in the next stage.”
The nations of Africa are a turning point before the World Cup
Hani Ramzy stressed the need to exploit the upcoming African Cup of Nations as a main stage in preparing for the World Cup, noting that participation in the tournament should not be formal.
He said: “The nations of Africa must be the beginning of serious preparation for the World Cup, not just participation. The Egyptian national team must return to that team that all African teams fear. We must leave the circle of doubt in which some talk about the ease of the qualifiers, and start from now on building a team capable of appearing strong in the global forum.”
He concluded his statements by saying: “If we continue to make our decisions based on what is said on social media, we will not advance a single step forward. Scientific planning is the only way to success in the long term.”
