Helwan University organized a celebration to honor Dr. Khaled El-Anani on the occasion of his election by the Executive Council of UNESCO to the position of Director-General of the organization, with the participation of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, Dr. El-Sayed Qandil, President of Helwan University, Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary of the Union of Arab Universities, and an elite group of university leaders. and members of his election campaign.

Dr. Khaled Al-Anani expressed his great happiness at the honor he received within his alma mater, Helwan University, to which he is proud to belong as a graduate of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.
Al-Anani stressed that the university is considered one of the distinguished educational institutions, because it offers modern academic programs that are in line with the needs of the labor market, noting that many of the leaders and ministers are its graduates, which reflects the quality of education that the university provides to its students.
Dr. Al-Anani also pointed out that UNESCO was established after World War II, with the aim of consolidating peace among peoples, after it became clear that political and economic agreements may unite governments, but they are not sufficient to unite peoples. Hence the importance of UNESCO’s role in promoting education and culture as pillars of human rapprochement.
Al-Anani stressed the diversity of the organization’s fields of work, stressing his full support for its efforts during the next stage, and thanked and appreciated everyone who supported him in his candidacy for this high international position.
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of the role of the work team in the Supreme Council of Universities, as all university presidents have a common vision for developing the educational and research system in Egypt, pointing out that there is great coordination on the part of the various relevant ministries to support the Egyptian nomination campaign for the position of Director General of UNESCO, considering that Egypt deserves this high-level position in one of the largest and most important United Nations organizations.
The Minister of Higher Education expressed his great pride and happiness with the result of the elections in the Executive Council of UNESCO with the victory of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, noting that he is a distinguished researcher in Egyptology and archaeology, stressing that the political leadership provided great support for him to win this prominent position, offering him congratulations and wishing him success in his new position, stressing that this success reflects the state’s belief in the importance of science and investment in people, which is what it seeks. The Ministry aims to empower youth and enhance their national awareness.
For his part, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his happiness to participate in this distinguished national event that expresses the pride of every Egyptian, male and female, in celebration of the Executive Council’s election of Dr. Khaled El-Anany to the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), stressing that this historic achievement adds a new bright page in the record of the achievements of the modern Egyptian state under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stressed that this victory is not just a personal achievement for a prominent Egyptian scientist, but rather a victory for Egyptian science and knowledge, and an embodiment of the ability of the nation’s people to compete in the highest and most important international institutions. He pointed out that the imminence of one of Egypt’s sons assuming the leadership of UNESCO – the house of culture, science and education at the world level – is an international appreciation of the cultural and historical status of Egypt and a belief in its pioneering role in consolidating the values of peace, dialogue and cultural diversity.
Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education, expressed his pride and pride in the selection of the eminent scholar, prominent academic, and distinguished archaeologist, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, on the occasion of his election by the Executive Council of UNESCO, noting that the result of the Council elections did not come by chance, but rather was the culmination of a process full of giving and achievements in the fields of antiquities, culture, education, and the protection of human heritage, those fields in which… It represents the essence of UNESCO’s mission itself, and also reflects the great support provided by the Egyptian state with all its agencies, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to enhance Egypt’s presence in international institutions.
The Minister of Education reviewed the most prominent successes achieved through the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry and UNESCO, which was directly reflected in the development of the educational process in Egypt, especially in the areas of quality education, teacher training, and supporting digital transformation in schools, in addition to enhancing students’ skills in line with the requirements of the local and international labor market, stressing that this cooperation comes within the framework of the state’s vision to build a modern educational system based on innovation and knowledge, and based on principles. Justice, equal opportunities, and providing high-quality education for all, expressing the Ministry’s aspiration to expand the horizons of this cooperation in the future to include new fields, especially in educational digitization, developing assessment tools, and measuring learning outcomes.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, said: I am pleased to be with you today in Helwan University, this scientific edifice to which I am proud to belong, and which has always been a beacon of thought and creativity, noting that the result of voting in the Executive Council is the pride of all of Egypt, and an achievement that reflects its civilizational and cultural status, and embodies his sincerity and dedication to serving the nation, whether during his academic work or in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The Minister of Culture stressed that the Ministry of Culture’s support for his candidacy is a national duty, and perhaps one of the most prominent milestones of this solidarity is our full commitment that we made at the most prominent international cultural forum, “Al Mundiacult” in Spain, when we mobilized all efforts to support his nomination file for the position of Director General of UNESCO, out of our belief that he is the best person to represent Egypt and human civilization in this high international forum, and the dream came true in a historic moment of Egyptian, on the anniversary of the October victory, to add a new victory to Egyptian culture and diplomacy.
Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, stressed that this achievement is not just the culmination of a distinguished scientific and professional career, but rather is a global testimony to the pioneering scientific cadres provided by Helwan University, capable of competing and excelling in international forums. Dr. Khaled El-Anani was an example of a loyal national scholar, and during his career in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities he presented achievements that will remain a testament to his genius and sincerity, including a road project.
