Muhammad Gibran holds, Minister of LabourToday, Tuesday, an expanded meeting was held with representatives of business owners in the Shaq Al-Tha’ban Industrial Area, to discuss a number of important issues, most notably work permits for foreigners, the application of the minimum wage, employment contracts, and occupational safety and health.
Educating business owners about the laws regulating labor relations
The meeting comes within the framework of the Ministry of Labor’s directives to educate business owners about the laws regulating labor relations, and the importance of adhering to their implementation, in a way that guarantees workers’ rights and maintains a safe and orderly work environment.
The Minister had previously announced the issuance of 216 reports against establishments in the Shaq al-Tha’ban area in Cairo, for operating foreigners without work permits, within just one day, through intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Central Inspection Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the General Administration of Passports.
The Minister of Labor confirmed that the inspection campaigns will continue until the work permit procedures for all foreigners working in various establishments are completed, noting that the penalties for violators are severe and multiply according to the frequency of the violation and the number of unlicensed workers.
The Minister renewed his call to all establishments to expedite the registration of foreigners working for them to avoid exposure to legal penalties, stressing that the Ministry continues to monitor and control the labor market and regulate the employment of foreign workers in a way that achieves justice and equal opportunities.
