In line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, to launch this year’s Tree Week, Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of the Interior, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, planted a tree at the headquarters of the Special Security Force in the Safra area, as part of the efforts made to implement the goals of the National Afforestation Plan by planting 3.6 million trees until the year 2035. The Minister stressed the importance of enhancing environmental sustainability and enhancing environmental awareness of the importance of planting trees, within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, pointing to the societal role of the Ministry of the Interior in all its sectors by supporting environmental initiatives, enhancing social responsibility, and spreading green spaces in all security and service establishments and facilities, in addition to developing projects to protect environmental wealth.
He pointed out the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to establish a culture of volunteer work and attention to environmental issues, in cooperation with various parties, adding that the Ministry is continuing with its programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental awareness in society and encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly practices.
