The Minister of Electricity meets the Saudi Ministers of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Somali Ministers of Energy and Water Resources

On the sidelines of the fifth meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ministers responsible for water, held in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, met with Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to discuss aspects of strengthening joint cooperation between the two sister kingdoms in the fields of water resources management, enhancing the efficiency of their sustainability, and expanding the use of innovation and modern technologies in The areas of production and distribution, in addition to exchanging experiences in the fields of water desalination, treatment and reuse, and developing infrastructure projects related to water and energy, in a way that supports achieving water security in accordance with sustainable development goals.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of the close fraternal relations that unite the two kingdoms, praising the Kingdom’s pioneering role in supporting joint action and adopting regional initiatives aimed at achieving water sustainability.

For his part, Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli welcomed the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the meeting, stressing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences in the fields of water and energy, thus contributing to supporting regional efforts to achieve water security.

Minister Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan also met with Mr. Abdullah Battan Warsame, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia, where during the meeting they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of water and exchange experiences in water resources management.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation in developing water networks and improving the efficiency of using water resources, desalination and storage techniques, in addition to discussing ways to benefit from Bahraini expertise in groundwater management and raising water quality.

It was also agreed to form a joint technical team to study future cooperation opportunities in the areas of developing water networks, water desalination, and exchanging technical and administrative expertise, which contributes to achieving sustainable management of water resources.
