Mr. Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, praised the kindness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, for launching the “Tree Week” activities, and directing His Highness to organize the innovation competition in irrigation solutions, which aims to support innovative technical solutions to raise the efficiency of irrigation systems, and expand the use of treated water in afforestation and agriculture, in a way that contributes to the sustainability of natural resources and maintaining the environmental balance. This came during participation in planting a number of trees as part of the “Tree Week” activities, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, and with the participation of a number of officials and employees of the Ministry, stressing that this national initiative reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm commitment to sustainable development approaches, and highlights a growing national awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, to reach the desired environmental goals.
The Minister added that the “Tree Week” initiative comes in support of the afforestation plan, which is taking deliberate steps towards doubling the number of trees in various governorates to 3.6 million trees by 2035, in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
He concluded by emphasizing that the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs pays special attention to initiatives and projects with an environmental dimension, as they are a pivotal element in supporting the process of sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life, noting the Ministry’s keenness to continue supporting national efforts aimed at protecting natural resources and promoting the principles of sustainability in various sectors.
