The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities announced the launch of the photography exhibition “Intersection,” organized by the Authority, and in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, at the Bahrain National Museum.
The exhibition presents the works of four photographic artists: Sheikha Hanan bint Hassan Al Khalifa, Ghada Khonji, Loredana Mantello, and Valentina Costa, in a visual dialogue that documents a journey through spaces in which basic components intersect. Artists reflect their visions in the language of identity, self, and the beauty inherent in cultural diversity, by building bridges to the values of coexistence and openness to others, and conveying cultural experiences that transcend geographical borders.
In her series “Capturing Humanity: The Rich Fabric of Everyday Life,” Sheikha Hanan bint Hassan Al Khalifa focuses her lens on the pulsing rhythms of the street, as a captivating visual medium that documents the details of daily life, reveals the societal and cultural landscape, and narrates human experiences.
As for Ghada Khonji, in her work “When You Are in the Arabian Peninsula” she deals with man’s relationship with his land, by highlighting the natural landscapes of the Kingdom of Bahrain, its archaeological sites and its modern developments, in an integrated blend of the past and the present and embodying the meaning of belonging to a place rich in history.
In her series “Pelestial Domes,” Loredana Mantello tends to photograph the majestic domes and ornate ceilings of churches, while Valentina Eleonora Costa, through her series “Venice and the East: An Eternal Dialogue,” presents a vision that documents an extended civilizational dialogue between Venice and the Arab world, embodied in trade, art, and architecture.
The exhibition will continue to receive visitors until November 5, 2025 in the lobby of the Bahrain National Museum.
