Since the launch of the reform project under the leadership of His Majesty the King, may God protect and preserve him, the Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed prominent political and constitutional transformations, the most prominent of which was the revival of parliamentary life through the formation of the House of Representatives alongside the Shura Council, which was founded by his father and the father of Bahrainis, the great late Prince Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may God rest his soul.
This project, i.e. reviving parliamentary life, came with a vision based on involving citizens in decision-making, and emphasizing that the exercise of power is not separate from the will of the people, but rather emanates from it and is exercised in order to serve them, through people choosing representatives who work honestly and sincerely to communicate their visions and solve their concerns and concerns.
His Majesty the King was keen for the National Council, both its elected and appointed parts, to be a model of balance between popular expertise and official representation, so that effective integration is achieved between the voice of citizens and the vision of the state, ensuring legislative and oversight performance that enriches national action and avoids useless conflicts.
Although the Bahraini parliamentary experience is still in its early stages, having not exceeded three decades, the political maturity of citizens has become clear, especially in terms of their awareness of their role in the electoral process, and their keenness to hold their representatives accountable and monitor their performance.
It has become noticeable that Bahraini voters give their vote to those who demonstrate their commitment to serving the public interest, and not to those who seek personal gain. This transformation is evidence of the success of the reform approach in establishing the concept of informed and responsible participation.
In the meetings of His Majesty the King with members of the legislative and executive authorities, features of wise leadership that relies on calm dialogue and constructive guidance are evident, as His Majesty’s words carry profound messages that reinforce the values of joint national action and encourage cooperation between constitutional institutions instead of conflict or negative competition.
His Majesty always emphasizes that the relationship between the authorities must be built on integration and coordination, with the aim of providing the best for the country and the citizen, within a framework of mutual respect and keenness to give priority to the supreme national interest.
One of the striking aspects of His Majesty’s approach is his constant appreciation for the efforts of the people’s representatives, and his constant affirmation that responsibility is an assignment that requires sincerity and diligent work, and that the true criterion of success is improving the lives of citizens and raising the level of services.
The words of His Majesty the King constitute an integrated national vision, stemming from a rich experience in state administration and reform work. Through it, His Majesty draws a clear road map towards a more stable and prosperous future, based on strong institutions and a people aware of their role.
His Majesty the King sought to establish a national democratic model that reflects Bahraini specificity and keeps pace with development ambitions, so that Bahrain becomes a homeland that embraces everyone, and its parliamentary experience is a source of pride and radiance in the Arab world. The development we see today in parliamentary and oversight performance confirms that the values instilled by the reform project have begun to bear fruit, in a continuing process whose ultimate title is: Bahrain first and always.
