The junior handball team, born in 2008, achieved a remarkable achievement by defeating the Moroccan national team in a match that witnessed a large audience turnout. The match ended with a victory for our national team with a score of 32-20 at the conclusion of the first round of the World Championship held in Morocco. With this victory, the national team qualified for the semi-finals, maintaining ideal results while awaiting its anticipated confrontation against its Spanish counterpart.
The junior national team was able to tighten its grip on the first round competitions by achieving a victory over the American national team with a score of 42-22 in its second match, and strengthened its position with another victory over the Brazilian national team, where the match ended with a landslide victory 35-26. Thus, the handball team confirmed its determination and strength in the tournament, which begins from October 24 to November 1, and aspires to the next rounds.
The task of heading the delegation was not ordinary, as the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Handball Federation assigned it to Khaled Fathi, President of the Federation, while Amr Fathi, a member of the Board of Directors, assumed the position of Vice President in a step that emphasizes the importance of administrative and moral support for the team.
Before traveling to Morocco, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, was keen to motivate the players, as he held a session that discussed the team’s ambitions, asking the players to return with a coronation medal in appreciation of their diligence, which reflects the great interest of the state in supporting young people in their sports career.
