Our national handball team began its journey in the third Asian Youth Games with a great and well-deserved victory over the Hong Kong team with a score of 36-12 yesterday, Sunday, at the Handball Federation hall in the sports hall complex in Umm Al Hassam, with the start of the first group competitions in the handball competition within the tournament competitions hosted by the Kingdom until October 31, under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great monarch of the country. Our team confirmed its high readiness and ambition to compete for an Asian medal, and with the first minutes of the match, the young Red imposed complete control over the course of the match, taking advantage of the strong defensive organization, while the performance of our team players was distinguished by speed in offensive transitions and high effectiveness in ending attacks, ending the first half ahead by 13 goals and 18/5, reflecting technical superiority. And physical for our players.
In the second half, our team continued its distinguished performance with a high team spirit and clear tactical discipline, as the players were able to maintain a comfortable difference and manage the match with calm and confidence. The technical staff, led by coach Mohamed Abdel Rahman, took advantage of the opportunity to make a series of substitutions, with the aim of giving all players the opportunity to participate and evaluate their readiness before the expected confrontations in the group, without this affecting the level of the team’s overall performance, which continued to excel until the final whistle.
On the other hand, the other Bahraini teams had a mixed start in the rest of the competitions. In the kabaddi competitions, the Bahrain national team lost its first match in the tournament against the Pakistan national team, and then suffered a second loss against the Sri Lanka national team.
As for the Kurash competitions, our national team player Hassan Al-Laith lost his match against the Indian player Vabhav.
In the Pencak Silat competitions, our national team player Jassim Al-Subaie lost his first match against Iranian Ali Reza.
The Bahraini teams will continue to participate in various games on the second day of the tournament, as our volleyball team will begin its participation, while the game of tic-ball will make its first appearance in the Asian Youth Games.
