The Governor of Giza stresses good preparation for the winter and rainy season

Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, stressed during the Board of Governors meeting the necessity of fully preparing to receive the winter and rainy season, and to deal immediately with any waves of climate fluctuations, stressing the importance of reviewing the efficiency of equipment, hoods, and work teams, and organizing plans for rapid deployment and positioning in all sectors of the governorate to ensure rapid intervention in times of need.

The governor pointed out the importance of periodically clearing flood drains, sewers and rainwater drainage networks, while preparing the necessary emergency plans to deal with various possible scenarios.

The governor also stressed the activation of sub-operations rooms in all regions, linking them to the main operations room in the governorate, and following up on the data issued by the Meteorological Authority to quickly deal with any warnings in this regard.

In the same context, the governor assigned the Irrigation Directorate to coordinate with the heads of centers and cities to intensify the work of continuously clearing torrents, canals, and drains within villages, to avoid the accumulation of waste and preserve the civilized appearance.

The governor also announced his approval to implement a project to strengthen vital streets with more than 800 new rainwater drains, directing the heads of the relevant neighborhoods and the Roads Directorate, in cooperation with the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, to quickly complete the project and restore things to their original state, given its importance in improving the efficiency of rainwater drainage during the winter.

In a related context, the governor directed the heads of neighborhoods, centers, and cities, in coordination with the electricity company, to conduct a periodic review of lighting poles and electrical kiosks, and to cover the cables and insulate them safely, while placing them at appropriate depths to prevent water from leaking into them, in order to preserve the safety of citizens.

Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, confirmed that the executive branch is making intensive efforts to ensure the readiness of all public facilities and services in preparation for the rainy season, noting that coordination exists around the clock between the various executive agencies and concerned authorities to achieve an immediate response to any emergency, in order to preserve the safety of citizens and the continuation of services on a regular basis without being affected.

During the meeting, the governor also reviewed the position of spatial variables, the electronic complaints system, the performance of technology centers, the files for reconciliation of building violations, and the legalization and recovery of state-owned lands, stressing the necessity of quickly responding to incoming complaints, dealing immediately with violations and taking the necessary legal measures regarding them, in addition to periodic monitoring of the rates of project implementation within the governorate’s investment plan, to achieve maximum benefit. In this regard, the Governor assigned the Secretary-General to hold an urgent meeting with the heads of neighborhoods, centers, and cities to determine the implementation rates of the investment plan and advance it, with an emphasis on following up on companies on the ground to ensure the quality of raw materials used in the implementation work. He directed the engineering office to follow up on the projects implemented on the ground and to prepare periodic technical reports on the quality of the implemented work.
The governor directed the relevant agencies, including the service agency, the traffic department, the heads of neighborhoods and centers, and supply officials, to intensify oversight and follow-up around the clock to ensure compliance with the new tariff for means of transportation, and to prevent any attempts to exploit citizens.
