The government has reservations about parliamentary legislation that aims to increase the period of leave approved for the father in the event that he has a new baby to 3 days instead of one day, as is the case in the applicable law.
The government stated that the proposed draft law – despite the merit of its social objectives – is not based on an urgent legislative necessity, does not address a real deficiency in the existing regulation, and also imposes operational and financial burdens on business owners, which would undermine the flexibility of performance and disturb the stability of the work environment, especially in small and medium enterprises, and vital sectors with high operational sensitivity.
The project also upsets the balance of the delicate legislation that governs the relationship between the worker and the employer.
According to the government, maintaining the existing text embodies a balanced approach that takes into account social considerations without prejudice to operational needs, and reflects a rational legislative policy that preserves the rights of individuals, and at the same time preserves the sustainability of economic activity and the stability of the labor market.
