The Egyptian men’s national hockey team’s match ended, led by… Ahmed Zakaria against its counterpart, South Africa, in a draw with three goals each, as part of the third round of the African Nations Championship currently being held in Egypt at the Suez Canal Authority stadiums in Ismailia Governorate, during the period from 11 to 18 October.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian national team is ranked seventeenth in the world rankings, while the South African national team is ranked thirteenth in the world.
The Egyptian national team will meet its counterpart, the Zambian national team, tomorrow, Wednesday, at five o’clock in the evening.
The Egyptian national team will face its Ghana national team, on Friday, October 17th, at five o’clock in the evening.
The first and second-place finishers will advance to the final match to compete for the African Hockey Championship title.
The Egyptian men’s national team had played two previous matches in the tournament, during which it was able to achieve victory in both, as it won the first match over the Kenyan national team with a score of 2-1, and then continued its victories in the second match by defeating the Nigerian national team with a score of 6-3, continuing its strong journey in the tournament so far.
In a related context, Captain Saif Hamed, President of the African Hockey Federation, and Major General Ashraf Farahat, President of the Egyptian Hockey Federation and member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, received this morning Dato Al-Tayeb Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation, who arrived in Cairo to attend the African Nations Championship competitions.
During his visit, the President of the International Hockey Federation is scheduled to hold a number of official meetings with Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Engineer Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, in addition to making a tour to visit a number of tourist attractions in Egypt.
Six teams participate in the men’s competition: Egypt (the host country), South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zambia.
While 5 teams participate in the women’s competitions: Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana.
The continental championship is of special importance as it is the ninth edition of the women’s championship and is a qualifier for the 2026 World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Belgium and the Netherlands.
This year, the tournament will witness the return of the Egyptian women’s national team after an absence of 8 years, as their last participation was in the 2017 edition.
