Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, Director of the Directorate of Education in Alexandria Governorate, confirmed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a cultural event that highlights Egypt’s position in the arts and sciences. This museum is an embodiment of Egyptian history and culture, as it represents an extension of an ancient civilization that is considered a beacon of knowledge, art and creativity, and confirms that Egypt is still capable of leadership in the cultural and civilizational fields.
Abu Zeid’s statements came during his speech at the morning assembly, which was organized in a number of Alexandria schools to celebrate the approaching official opening of the museum. He was keen to express his pride in the students who represent the future of Egypt, and that this museum will become a symbol of pride and belonging, and he sent motivational messages that carry meanings of hope and optimism for what future generations will achieve.
Regarding the details of the museum, Abu Zeid stressed its strategic location near the Giza Pyramids, as it is considered the largest archaeological museum dedicated to one civilization in the world, as it contains more than 100,000 artifacts that embody the history of Egypt, starting from prehistoric times all the way to the Greek and Roman eras, which shows the deep historical context of Egyptian civilization.
The Director of Alexandria Education added that the museum will house the treasures of King Tutankhamun, which will be fully displayed for the first time since the discovery of his tomb. It will also include research and cultural centers, artistic performances, and public parks, making it an integrated city that combines knowledge, art, and history. He stressed that this opening will take place with a global ceremony next Saturday, the first of November 2025, and it is an event that the whole world is waiting for.
It should be noted that the morning assembly in Alexandria schools included various items related to the museum, along with providing useful historical information, and artistic performances in which Pharaonic clothing was worn that reflects the ancient history of Egypt, giving students a pivotal educational experience that enhances their understanding of their homeland’s rich heritage.
