Representative Mohammed Yousef Al-Maarafi, member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, participates in the third edition of the joint Bahraini-European conference, “Guaranteeing Freedom of Religion and Belief: A Practice for Promoting Coexistence, Towards a Bahraini-European Roadmap,” in the city of Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, during the period from 28-29 October 2025 AD.
The conference aims to bring together high-level representatives from governments, civil society, academic institutions, and religious leaders from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union, to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to promoting the right to freedom of religion or belief, and consolidating the values of coexistence and peace as a basic foundation for building more inclusive and stable societies.
It is noteworthy that the third edition of the Bahraini European Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief comes under the title “Guaranteeing Freedom of Religion and Belief: The Practice of Promoting Coexistence, Towards a Bahraini-European Roadmap,” and is co-organized by the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, in cooperation with the European Union.
The conference includes several important axes for discussion, the most important of which are: an axis on understanding what a “society friendly to freedom of religion and belief” is – frameworks and practices, views from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union, an axis on protecting freedom of religion and belief: a toolkit for a diverse world, an axis on combating hate speech and hate crimes, an axis on education, awareness, and cultural diplomacy, an axis on freedom of religion and belief and artificial intelligence, an axis on freedom of religion and belief, Coexistence and tolerance in the European Union, the Gulf region and beyond.
The participation of the House of Representatives in this conference comes within the framework of the vital role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting, promoting and disseminating the values and culture of tolerance, coexistence and peace in the region and the world, and based on the insightful vision and wise approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, in consolidating the values of dialogue, understanding and cooperation between countries, societies and peoples.
