On the occasion of the University of Bahrain achieving a distinguished academic achievement by joining the list of global research universities accredited by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Dr. Phil Batty, CEO of Global Affairs at Times Higher Education, extends his warmest congratulations to the University of Bahrain on the academic achievement that will have a positive impact on strengthening its position in the world university rankings.

He said in a statement: “On my own behalf and on behalf of all members of the Times Higher Education Foundation, I extend my warmest congratulations to the University of Bahrain on this historic achievement of entering the distinguished group of international research universities included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.”

He added: “The Times World University Rankings are the most comprehensive and accurate assessment of research-based universities in the world, and the full ranking represents less than 10 percent of the world’s universities.”

He pointed out that the Times World Classification includes 17 separate performance indicators, covering the areas of teaching, research, communication with the industrial sector, and international outlook. Stressing that strict standards are required to accept research outputs in quality-assured academic journals, in addition to precise standards, including the largest global academic reputation survey, which is conducted by special invitation and allows for review by international peers.

Phil Batty, Chief Global Affairs Officer at Times Higher Education, concluded his statement by saying: “Entering this ranking is a great achievement. Congratulations to the University of Bahrain on this success.”
