The Financial and Legal Committee of the Capital Municipality Council discussed the request received from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, regarding the draft amendment to Article 6 of the Real Estate Rental Law promulgated by Law No. 27 of 2014, which was referred to the Council by the views of the Capital Municipality Council.
During its meeting, the committee confirmed that its study of the issue aims to achieve justice between the parties concerned, contribute to the establishment of integrated and sustainable real estate markets, enhance the protection of the rights of tenants and owners, in addition to reviewing the effectiveness of legal penalties in the event of violation.
After studying the views and the submitted request, the committee decided not to approve the amendment to Article 6 of the Real Estate Rental Law promulgated by Law No. 27 of 2014, based on the observations of the Legislative Authority and the legal opinion, and in view of the possibility of administrative verification and taking the necessary measures in the event of any violation being proven, in accordance with Resolution No. 1 of 2023 regarding the controls for registering collective housing rental contracts located in the Capital Governorate.
