The Ministry of Interior is implementing comprehensive traffic campaigns on all roads and axes in the Republic, with the aim of controlling violations and achieving traffic discipline. These efforts fall within a strategy that includes reducing accidents and protecting the lives of citizens, as these operations form an essential part of the daily work of the security services to improve the level of safety on the roads.
Within a period of time not exceeding a day, the campaigns were able to arrest more than 107,200 traffic violations, which varied between driving without a license and exceeding the speed limit, in addition to random parking and using a mobile phone while driving. The examination procedures also included 1,627 drivers, and the results of the examination were positive for 81 of them due to drug use.
In a related context, the security services continued their presence in areas of heavy traffic on the regional ring road, where efforts resulted in arresting 819 various traffic violations, including violations of loading passengers and failure to comply with license conditions. 142 drivers were also examined, and the results resulted in 9 positive cases of drug abuse.
These campaigns also resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals convicted of various cases, and the sentences reached 10, in addition to the impoundment of 9 vehicles due to their violations of the traffic law. The necessary legal measures were taken to address all violations discovered during the campaigns.
These campaigns seek to enhance traffic discipline and ensure the safety of all road users, as the state confronts any behavior that threatens the lives of citizens or obstructs traffic, which reflects the state’s commitment to maintaining road security and ensuring the smooth flow of movement in the various governorates of the Republic.
