The Arab Gulf University participates in Cairo Water Week to discuss issues and challenges of the water sector, climate, and shared water in the Arab world.

The Arab Gulf University is participating in the activities of the eighth session of Cairo Water Week – the high-level regional platform – which brings together experts to discuss issues and challenges of the water, climate and common water sectors in the Arab world. It is scheduled to start on Sunday morning and continue until October 16 in Cairo, under the patronage of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr. Walid Zubari, professor of water management at the College of Education, Administrative and Technical Sciences, participates in the week’s activities, as a representative of the university, at the invitation of UNESCO, within the framework of the ongoing partnership between UNESCO and the university on regional water issues. Dr. Zubari discusses, in the high-level dialogue session dedicated to the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (IHP) of UNESCO, It reviews important milestones in the program’s journey and its future aspirations.

Dr. Zubari also participates in two other sessions, which address the topic of global scientific progress in the water sector, and the challenges of sustainable groundwater management in the Arab region.

It is noteworthy that Cairo Water Week has become a scientific and dialogue platform that brings together officials, experts and decision-makers from various countries of the world, to exchange experiences and enhance cooperation in order to achieve water security and sustainable development globally, which contributes to supporting the exchange of knowledge and developing the level of scientific research, as well as enhancing the participation of companies and institutions in the exhibition accompanying the week, to showcase the latest innovations and technologies in the field of water.

The number of international and regional organizations participating in the week reached 95, and 125 sessions were recorded within its activities, the most prominent of which are: the meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Water Council, the thirty-seventh General Assembly, the executive meeting of the Islamic Network for the Development and Management of Water Resources, the ministerial meeting of the Joint Technical Committee for Water and Agriculture of the League of Arab States, the High-Level Joint Technical Committee for Water and Agriculture, and the celebration of the golden jubilee (50 years) of the Hydrological Programme. UNESCO International Conference (IHP), the Sixth Annual EU Conference on Water Finance and Investment, the EU-Egypt Water Investment Forum, and the Egyptian-Dutch Water Forum.
