On Wednesday morning, the General Traffic Department in Alexandria Governorate closed the Alexandria-Cairo Desert Road to traffic in both directions due to the density of water mist, which led to a complete lack of visibility on the road.

Alexandria Governorate explained that the closure decision came as a precautionary measure to preserve the safety of citizens, as dense fog poses a great danger to drivers and increases the possibility of accidents.
The General Authority of Meteorology had previously warned of the formation of dense water mist on highways during the early hours of the morning, stressing the need to be careful while driving.
For its part, Alexandria Governorate called on drivers to adhere to the permissible speed limits, leave a sufficient safety distance between vehicles, and use fog lights to avoid accidents.
