Lawyer Rana Mohamed, a member of the defense team of the victim, the taxi driver who was killed in the middle of the road in Alexandria, revealed the details of the sentencing hearing.

Details of the sentencing of a taxi driver’s killer to life imprisonment

In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, lawyer Rana Mohamed said: We presented a portfolio of documents containing the criminal record of the accused, which contained 3 sentences for a total of 15 years despite his young age, as he committed his crime 11 months ago and was 19 years old at the time.

She added that the accused has two other convictions, one of which is attempted murder, and he was sentenced to 15 years of aggravated imprisonment. He was also sentenced to 3 years in the case of causing a permanent disability to a person.

She indicated that the session was postponed in the last session, due to the head of the department requesting the presence of the only prosecution witness, as he had not attended any of the previous sessions.

She noted that the role of the defense team was limited to refuting some of the fallacies of the accused’s defense, noting that he is expected to file an appeal against the ruling.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Alexandria Criminal Court, headed by Counselor Gamal Al-Baghdadi, sentenced the murderer of a taxi driver on the public road, called M.M., to life imprisonment, confiscating the bladed weapon used in the incident, and referring the civil case to the competent court.

The events of the case registered under No. 64 of 2025, Moharam Bey Police Department, felonies, are due to the receipt of a signal from the main university hospital to the Moharam Bey Police Department, about the arrival of the victim, Ahmed. He suffered a cut on his scalp ranging from 10 cm to 15 cm.

Investigations revealed that the accused M.M. After he arrived in a tuk-tuk, he got out, holding a white weapon – a knife – in his hand, headed towards the victim, and assaulted him, using the white weapon in his possession, intending to take his life. This resulted in him suffering 5 blows, and the security services were able to arrest him.

Investigations revealed that the accused surprised the victim from behind and hit him in the head with a knife, and after he fell to the ground, he stabbed him several more times in the head and hand, before fleeing and returning to take a tuk-tuk to complete his way to a wedding.
