Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jönsson announced on Friday that his country will allocate 3.5 billion Swedish krona (about 370 million dollars) to enhance its defense capabilities against drones, in light of the escalation of air violations that have raised security concerns in Europe.
The minister explained that Sweden, a member of NATO, will deploy drones capable of chasing enemy drones, and install jamming devices at air bases, in addition to systems to shoot down drones.
This step comes after a series of incidents in the European aviation sector, where unidentified drones were spotted, raising fears of possible attacks on Ukraine’s allies. Russia has denied any connection to these incidents.
