Sohag University launched its veterinary medical convoy to the village of Shatoura, affiliated with the Tahta Center, which was organized by the university’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as part of the implementation of the Presidential Initiative “A Decent Life” launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, stressed that the University pays great attention to its societal role by implementing many medical, veterinary, environmental and service convoys, in order to serve the villages most in need, pointing out that this convoy comes in the context of the university’s pioneering societal role, enhancing the state’s efforts in achieving sustainable development, and is an extension of the role of the College of Veterinary Medicine in community participation and the advancement of the veterinary sector in the countryside. And improving the level of health services for animals, which reflects on public health and the local economy.
Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, explained that the convoy comes within a series of convoys carried out by the University in the villages of the governorate in various specializations, noting that the veterinary convoy aimed to provide health and therapeutic care for animals, as medical examinations were conducted on 975 cases and treatment was given free of charge, in addition to implementing preventive programs that included combating internal and external parasites, and performing a number of surgical operations.
Dr. Osama Hassan Abu Shama, Dean of the College, indicated that the convoy included 10 faculty members and their assistants, and 40 students from the college’s fourth and fifth year, where the medical teams were divided into different specializations including surgery, internal and infectious diseases, poultry diseases, childbirth, and fertility deficiency, adding that the convoy contributed effectively to raising veterinary health awareness among citizens, in addition to supporting and training students in the field.
