On the sidelines of the ceremony to award the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in the Field of Education, an exhibition was held that witnessed distinguished participation from a number of schools.
The two students, Aisha Yousef Janahi and Nour Muhammad Barakat, from Zenobia Preparatory School for Girls, provided an explanation in English to the visitors of the exhibition about the services of the Ministry of Education’s electronic website, reviewing the most prominent features that contribute to facilitating access to educational resources and promoting digital learning.
A student team from the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Institute of Technology presented a virtual presentation based on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, allowing interaction with 3D educational environments that creatively simulate sports activities.
A team of students from Ghazi Al Gosaibi Secondary School for Girls also proposed a project aimed at helping the blind and visually impaired. It is a smart glove that was designed and programmed using the Python language and Arduino, and works to alert the user when approaching any obstacle within 75 cm, via vibration and audio signals.
Jidhafs Secondary School for Girls presented a student project aimed at protecting the environment and reducing plastic waste. It is a device that converts plastic water bottles into three-dimensional threads that can be used to manufacture various products and works of art.
From Al-Sahla Primary and Preparatory School for Boys, student Anwar Yasser Al-Araibi distinguished himself with an artistic painting entitled (The Family is the First Teacher of Digital Security). Student Muhammad Yousef Ahmed also presented a digital artwork in which he used artificial intelligence techniques, about the role of the family in promoting the safe use of technology.
The visitors were amazed by the artistic paintings presented by the student Haneen Nizam Jassim from Umm Kulthum Primary and Preparatory School for Girls.
The twins, Zahraa and Zainab Al-Sayyed Sharaf Humaidan, from Sitra Girls’ Secondary School, presented a project entitled (Smart City Enhanced with Artificial Intelligence), which embodies a vision of building sustainable, environmentally friendly cities using artificial intelligence techniques, through the use of solar panels and wind turbines to generate energy.
The students Saqr Ali Al-Jowder and Abdullah Rashid bin Ali from the religious institute, and the two students Najla Hassan Khamis and Alia Hussein Khamis from the Kairouan Primary Preparatory School for Girls participated with models of robots that they designed and programmed themselves.
