The House of Representatives will hold a plenary session next week to discuss the draft law submitted by the government amending some provisions of Law No. 212 of 1980 imposing a fee for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ buildings abroad.
During its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, the Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Representative Karim Darwish, Chairman of the Committee, is scheduled to discuss the draft law submitted by the government amending some provisions of Law No. 212 of 1980 imposing a fee for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ buildings abroad.

The session includes a discussion of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Decision No. 554 of 2025 approving the memorandum of understanding between Egypt and the European Union.
Yesterday, the House of Representatives’ Plan and Budget Committee approved the draft agreement, which includes the second phase of the macroeconomic support mechanism and budget support from the European Union worth 4 billion euros.
The memorandum of understanding mentioned the development partner, which is the European Union, which is financed with a budget support loan with a total value of 4 billion euros.
The memorandum explaining the agreement said that, within the framework of cooperation, the support is available for a period of one and a half years, starting from the first day following the entry into force of the memorandum of understanding, and it will be disbursed in three installments, the first installment: December 2025, the second installment: June 2026, and the third: December 2026, within the framework of macroeconomic support.
The Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives recommended amending Law No. 212 of 1980, amended by Law No. 214 of 1982, regarding imposing a fee for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ buildings abroad, as part of its recommendations regarding the draft state general budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024.
The recommendation regarding the General Authority for the Fund to Finance the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Buildings Abroad aims to increase the prescribed fee in order to keep pace with the significant increases in the prices of building purchases and maintenance carried out, and the rents paid abroad, as well as to keep pace with the change in current exchange rates.
