The Parliamentary Services Committee approved the proposal with a desire to establish a sports walkway in the seventh district of the Southern Governorate, while the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture stated that it agrees with the goals that the proposal aims to achieve with a desire, and sees the possibility of benefiting from the nearby walkways and gardens to meet the aforementioned purpose.
The Ministry stated that it is working, within its strategy, to implement a number of service, entertainment and aesthetic projects in various regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which contribute to developing infrastructure and providing high-quality municipal and utility services.
The Ministry indicated that there are some projects near the area that can be benefited from, which are (Aali Walkway, Madinat Zayed Walkway, Riffa Racecourse, and Independence Walkway).
She pointed out that the Municipal Council of the Southern Region had previously submitted, in December 2020, a proposal to establish a walkway in the aforementioned area, and after studying the proposal from a planning and technical standpoint, it became clear that the required location overlaps with the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Street campus, and that the site is not owned by the Ministry.
The Ministry confirmed that it is fully prepared to implement the proposal to establish a sports walkway in the seventh district of the Southern Governorate if a suitable location is allocated to establish the walkway and the required budget is provided.
