The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has followed the developments of the Nile River flooding this year, and the associated monochromatic actions on the part of Ethiopia in managing its illegal bridge contrary to international law.
She explained, that these practices lack the simplest rules of responsibility and transparency, and represent a direct threat to the life and security of the people of the estuary, as it reveals a way that does not doubt any doubt that the falsity of the repeated Ethiopian allegations of non -harm to others, and confirms that it is nothing more than a political exploitation of water at the expense of lives and regional security.
With regard to the water position on the high Nile, the data indicates the following:
2. The waters of the Nile River stems from three main tributaries: the white Nile, the Blue Nile, and the Atbara River. The Blue Nile flood comes from July to October of each year, and it is usually climax in August. The data indicates that the flooding of the year at its three main sources of this year is about 25%higher than the Mediterranean, but it is less than last year, which has been a high flood, so far.
3. Technically, Ethiopia was supposed to start storing water gradually damaged from the beginning of July until the end of October, and then drains it in an organized manner to generate electricity throughout the year, in a way that is consistent with what it repeatedly claims about the benefits of the dam in regulating the flood and protecting Sudan from drowning and providing electricity to the Ethiopian people.
4. At the end of August, it was noted that the operators of the Ethiopian dam violated the accepted technical and scientific rules, as they stored greater quantities of flood water expected while reducing the discharges from about 280 million mg to 110 million mg on September 8, 2025. These behaviors indicate an urgent Ethiopian orientation towards completing the inconvenience in an undisciplined manner, in order to reach the level of 640 meters above sea level, Then the middle flood and emergency flood opened for a few hours for use only as a “media snapshot” and a political review in what was called the celebration of the dam’s opening on September 9, 2025, away from any consideration of water safety or the interests of the estuary countries.
5. These estimates were confirmed by what actually happened; The Ethiopian operator, after the end of what was called the celebration on September 10, drained huge quantities of water, amounted to 485 million mum in one day, followed by sudden and unjustified increases in the discharges, which amounted to 780 million square meters on September 27, and then decreased to 380 million mg on September 30. The estimates of the levels of the Ethiopian dam also showed the decrease in the level of approximately one meter, which is equivalent to the drainage of about 2 billion ° C of the stored water without justification, other than the actions resulting from the flood itself, which exacerbated the quantities of water and confirmed the non -disciplined and random nature of the dam management (as shown in the attached form).
6. The convergence of these large and unexpected quantities of water at this time of the year, with the delay and different times of rain inside Sudan, as well as the high revenue of the White Nile from its natural rates, led to a sudden increase in the quantities of water, which resulted in the dumping of areas of agricultural lands and the immersion of many Sudanese villages.
7. In the face of these emergency conditions, the operators of the Sudanese Rosiris Dam had no choice but to store a small part of this water and pass the largest part through its gates in order to preserve the safety of the dam, due to the limited storage capacity.
8. Accordingly, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation believes that what happened on the Blue Nile is to accelerate the illegal filling of the Ethiopian dam, then draining huge amounts of water immediately after what was called the celebration of the opening of the dam, was not an emergency measure, but rather reflects an unparalleled and irresponsible administration of a dam of this size.
9. The unilateral and irresponsible administration of the Ethiopian dam has changed the normal flood dates – which usually occurs in August – and the creation of a more intense and strong artificial artificial flood of the year (part of September). Also, this absurd and uncontrolled behavior, which has no goal other than “media and political parade”, has inflicted heavy losses in brotherly Sudan, according to the reports of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), threatening the life and capabilities of the people of the Mawsa state. And Egypt has repeatedly warned that the presence of a dam stores 74 billion mites in violation of international law and without a binding legal agreement, and in light of this randomness and tampering with administration, it represents a permanent and continuous danger to the estuary states during droughts and flood periods.
In this context, the ministry confirms the following:
10. The water position is managed dynamically based on instant monitoring in the upper Nile and hydrological predictions using the latest sports models. Through this continuous follow -up, the appropriate timing of water behavior is determined, whether by increasing the disposal during the maximum agricultural needs season (May – August), or controlling the quantities of water in the flooding period (July – October), or reducing them in the winter season (January – February). With this accurate management, the balance between the optimal benefit of water is achieved, whether through the use of the main course for the drainage of water to meet the various needs and generate electricity, or through a complaint flood in emergency cases, in a way that ensures the optimal use of water resources and protecting the security of the Egyptian people in the face of any random behavior from the Ethiopian side.
11. Based on the pre -calculation of these scenarios, the Ministry has taken proactive measures that included addressing all governors on September 7, 2025, to alert citizens to be careful and take precautions to protect their property and their cultivation on the lands of the river, despite being violations of the law. This comes within the framework of the state’s keenness to protect citizens and reduce the potential effects of flooding, while emphasizing that these lands are inherently part of the natural course and the flood of the Nile River, and is exposed to immersion in such cases. 12. The lands of the recently flooded water are part of the lands of the river that the river used to absorb when increasing water behavior over the past decades. However, the encroachments on them with crops or buildings in the violation led to losses at the rise of the levels, although these lands are not dedicated to permanent agriculture. Also, what is being circulated through some media platforms and social media sites under the name (sinking of the provinces) is a false and misleading claim, as it is limited to the immersion of some lands of the river (lands located within the course of the Nile River), which is inherently part of the Nile campus and exposed to immersion at the rise of the levels, and not the provinces as it is eroded by mistake.
13. The Ministry indicates that the encroachments on the river course lead to severe technical consequences, the most important of which is the reducing the drainage capacity of the river, which represents the source of life for the Egyptians. The ministry annually warns citizens, and is implemented by large and costly exercises and efforts to preserve the crops and properties of violators as they are from the homeland. However, the continuation of these encroachments from a few individuals harms the delivery of water to dozens of millions of citizens and farmers, and reflects negatively on agricultural activity and the entire national economy.
14. The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation confirms that the Egyptian state with all its apparatus is following the situation around the clock, and that the high dam with its storage and drainage capabilities represents the basic guarantee to protect Egypt from the fluctuations of the Nile and the sudden floods. The Ministry also reassures the citizens that the Egypt Water Resources Department is carried out with high efficiency and in a deliberate manner that takes into account all possibilities, in a manner that ensures the fulfillment of water needs and the protection of lives and property.
