In view of the great role that the press and media have played in contemporary societies, as they contribute to building knowledge and awareness among segments of society regarding the issues and topics that concern them, and develop thinking about the dangers and threats facing the nation, press and media institutions have therefore received great patronage from His Majesty the King, may God protect and preserve him, as His Majesty was keen to provide them with all capabilities, develop the skills of their members, and achieve their aspirations. The development process did not stop there, but rather the legislation and regulations that support the press and media process were updated. National, and support their constructive role in the process of sustainable development, which was evident in the outcomes of fruitful cooperation between the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, may God protect him, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the legislative authority, which led to the issuance of Law No. 41 of 2025 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 47 of 2002 regulating the press, printing and publishing after its approval by the Shura and Representatives Councils. The articles of the law came to emphasize the balance between freedom The press and the media and the responsibility towards the nation. Providing protection for journalists and media professionals while performing their work is also accompanied by a responsibility not to deviate from the national public context, spread lies and rumors, distort the facts, or insult the nation or its leaders. The law emphasized that practicing journalistic or media work should only be done after obtaining permission, and the law set controls for practicing that work. The law also took care to establish graduated penalties for crimes related to publishing and others, ranging from a fine, suspension of publication, or administrative punishment, and these amendments represent… A qualitative leap in developing the national press and advancing its national progress so that it remains an essential pillar in advancing the process of development and prosperity. We hope that this law will be an incentive for more creativity and excellence in the service of free and high-level professional speech that reflects the bright image of Bahrain.
