Dr. Afaf Al-Awfi, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, directed that fines be imposed on smokers inside university facilities.

This came during a meeting of the Council for Community Service and Environmental Development at Alexandria University, held this morning, in implementation of the circular of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the prohibition of smoking inside university facilities, where Al-Awfi directed the need to intensify seminars and awareness campaigns about the dangers of smoking.
The Vice President of the University stressed the importance of activating the Occupational Safety and Health Department within university facilities, stressing the need to begin a comprehensive review of all buildings, laboratories, electrical panels, and roofs in preparation for the rainy season, in order to preserve the safety of individuals and facilities.
The Council also reviewed reports on activities and events that were implemented during the months of July and August 2025, which included educational seminars, employment forums, conferences, workshops, training courses, medical and service convoys, and various community activities.
The Council discussed awarding certificates to distinguished students for their contribution to community service and environmental activities.
