The sincere efforts of the leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries culminated in the holding of a peace summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, which put an end to the bloody war that the Palestinian people were subjected to for two years, in the presence of many leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries and the American President, Donald Trump. The agreement was signed in its first phase, which relates to the exchange of handover of hostages and prisoners from both sides, the withdrawal of Israeli forces to agreed upon borders, and paving the way for subsequent steps that establish a new phase in the Gaza Strip at the level of administration, security, and reconstruction, in the hope of greater steps to implement the two-state solution and build a just peace in the region that guarantees the existence of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, which is an established right supported by international conventions and international law.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has always been supportive of this legitimate right of the Palestinian people, and the Kingdom, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great monarch of the country, may God protect and preserve him, supported the Arab, Islamic and international efforts aimed at achieving this, and His Majesty did not hesitate to answer the call to be alongside brothers and friends at the summit to support its success, as the world witnessed a state of extraordinary movement at the level of public opinion and at the level of global parliaments. To support the right of the Palestinian people to their independent state and self-determination and to reject the brutal practices practiced on them of genocide, starvation and forced displacement. This momentum reached the corridors of the United Nations General Assembly, which witnessed a wave of recognition of the Palestinian state by many Western countries.
The Arab countries have always aspired to peace and did not resort to war or aggression, and adhered to the option of peace as a strategic direction in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative in 2002. Peace built on sound foundations and strong foundations enhances cooperation between peoples, contributes to achieving development and prosperity plans, and reduces the chances of violence and terrorism. We hope that President Trump will continue to support the agreement and its implementation, as well as the leaders of Western countries. And support Arab and Islamic efforts to complete it so that the region enjoys stability.
