The Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed that the Kingdom’s membership in the Security Council for the period (2026-2027) is considered a diplomatic privilege and a historical responsibility that places on it the duty to advance the international reform file and consolidate pluralism. As a cornerstone of maintaining international peace and security, she stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s approach, during its membership in the Security Council, will be based on the values of dialogue, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, consensus building, and human brotherhood, making it a voice for diplomacy, a bridge of understanding and a defender of just solutions that meet the aspirations of peoples towards a safer and more equitable future.
The Parliamentary Division explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s vision is inspired by the sound directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, who stressed on more than one occasion that reforming the international system is no longer a deferred option, but rather an urgent necessity imposed by the accelerating global transformations, and that maintaining international peace and security requires rebuilding the international system on more just and comprehensive foundations that reflect… The interests of all countries, and gives people an effective voice in shaping their future.
The Parliamentary Division indicated that His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, has translated the vision of His Majesty the King into a practical speech before the seventy-ninth General Assembly of the United Nations, where His Highness stressed the need for comprehensive reform of international organizations, especially the Security Council, to be more capable of responding to geopolitical transformations and global challenges, in addition to the United Nations being an arena for strengthening solidarity. And compatibility.
This came in the speech of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain, delivered by Her Excellency Mrs. Hala Ramzi Fayez, member of the Shura Council, before the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in which she stressed that accountability within the framework of the Union represents a fundamental pillar of its work, as it allows identifying the commitments achieved and building on them in a parliamentary process based on transparency, credibility and responsibility before the peoples.
The Parliamentary Division affirmed that the lofty vision of His Majesty the King places parliaments at the heart of the reform system, as the direct expression of the will of the peoples, and the faithful guardian of the principles of transparency and accountability, noting that the Inter-Parliamentary Union represents a comprehensive framework for strengthening oversight of states’ obligations and transforming political discourse into practical mechanisms that contribute to building a more just and equitable international system.
