Organizing guidance seminars for rural women pioneers to spread the culture of common disease prevention

The Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Assiut Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Solidarity, launched awareness-raising seminars at the Abutig Center, targeting rural pioneers and local leaders, with the aim of spreading the culture of preventing common diseases and improving ways to deal safely with animals.

The event was held at the headquarters of the Young Muslim Association in Abu Tej, and was presented by Dr. Mustafa Suleiman, senior physician of the Abu Teeg Veterinary Unit, in the presence of Dr. Rasha Abdel Moez, Head of the Guidance Department of the Abu Teeg Veterinary Administration, and representatives of the Social Affairs Department, including Muhammad Mustafa, Head of the Women’s Affairs Department, and under the supervision of Youssef Abdel Ghani, Director of the Department.

Dr. Gamal Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Assiut, confirmed that these seminars come within the framework of the Directorate’s plan to intensify awareness efforts in rural areas, stressing the importance of direct access to citizens, and activating the role of rural women pioneers in spreading health and veterinary messages within families.

He also pointed out that rabies is a common disease that requires community and institutional solidarity to limit its spread, stressing that the Directorate will continue to organize such events to achieve a safe and sustainable healthy environment.

The seminars addressed the definition of rabies, its transmission methods, symptoms, and ways to prevent it, while providing practical guidance for the safe handling of stray dogs in rural areas, with the aim of reducing the spread of the disease and enhancing community awareness.
