Maher Essam was born on October 5, 1979, in the Imbaba neighborhood of Giza Governorate, and his father left at a young age, to leave his mother as well, and an orphan child remains with his only sister.
He showed his interest and passion for art at a young age and participated in the artistic activities of his school, and at the age of six, he stood in front of the camera for the first time through the Bourgeois Fawzia movie in 1985, then he participated in the delicious killing movie, and he was not more than ten years old.
His influential participation in the movie Al -Nimr and the Female with the artist Adel Imam, a role that established his image in the minds of the audience as a sensitive child, his eyes say everything without speaking.
But, unlike what some think, art did not enter into the matter of mediation or luck, but rather entered it as a matter of innate honesty, that kind of acting that is not taught in the institutes.
Maher was not a window star, but he was the star of a scene, and sometimes the star of a look, he did not give the space that befit his talent, perhaps because he did not shout in the face of the camera, or because he chose to live with his true personality outside the photography, without masks.

His personal life was full of difficult situations; He was subjected to a severe health crisis in 2014, after which he was in a long coma, but he miraculously returned from it, as if life gave him a last chance, but he did not live after long.
In June 2018, Maher Essam left at the age of 39, after suffering a brain bleeding, leaving behind dozens of scenes that still bear witness that talent alone is not enough, and that art is not just fame, but also suffering, patience, and long waiting for roles that may never come.
