Rami Fayez, member of the Board of Directors of the Hotel Establishments Chamber and head of the 3-star Hotels Division, confirmed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum constitutes a historical event that directly reflects on the hotel and tourism sector in Cairo and Giza.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Hotel Establishments explained, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that the capital currently includes about 35,000 hotel rooms, and occupancy rates are witnessing an unprecedented rise, approaching 90% with the opening celebrations of the Grand Egyptian Museum, especially with the hosting of all official delegations.
He pointed out that the Grand Egyptian Museum will be a major attraction that will increase tourism programs in Cairo by between 20% and 30%, with the prices of tourism programs expected to rise during the coming period, due to the increasing demand for accommodation and tourism services.
Fayez expected that the hotel sector would witness an urgent need to increase the number of rooms in Cairo and Giza to meet the growing demand, stressing that the historic opening of the museum represents a golden opportunity to enhance Egypt’s tourism status at the local and international levels.
