A new study revealed a group of drinks and foods that enhance body health in addition to strengthening immunity.
A study reveals foods that boost immunity
According to what was published by the Times Now website, the most important of them are:
orange juice
Although vitamin C does not prevent the common cold, regular intake reduces the duration and severity of symptoms.
Nutritionist Dr. says: Carrie Ruxton said, “One cup of natural orange juice provides more than 80% of the daily requirement of vitamin C.”
Studies recommend taking 200 mg of the vitamin per day, indicating that most people do not exceed 80 mg per day. Also important sources of vitamin C are kiwi, red pepper, berries, grapefruit, and leafy vegetables.
Yogurt and fermented foods
Research shows that eating fermented foods such as yogurt, cheese, and Korean cabbage (kimchi) helps diversify beneficial bacteria in the gut and strengthen immune cells.
In a study conducted by Stanford University, researchers noted that participants who ate these foods for 10 weeks showed a decrease in inflammation and an improvement in the immune response.
Fatty fish
Vitamin D is one of the most important elements in fighting respiratory infections, according to multiple studies. Professor Daniel Davis from Imperial College London says: “This vitamin stimulates T cells – soldiers of the immune system – and increases the production of bacteria-resistant proteins.”
