French star Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid striker, revealed the reasons that prompted him to choose to join the Royal Club, and the big difference he feels between his current team and his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe moved to the ranks of Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, in a free transfer deal after the end of his contract with the Parisian club, rejecting all attempts by the management to renew his contract, in fulfillment of his old dream of wearing the “Merengue” shirt.

During an interview with the Spanish “Movie Star” network, Mbappe spoke about his experience, saying: “The only difference between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain is that Real Madrid is the best club in the world. Here you feel every day that you are at the top, and that you must always win and represent this historic slogan in the best possible way.”

My clear goal was to join Real Madrid

The 26-year-old French star added: “In Madrid, it is not enough to wear the white shirt. Rather, you must embody its values on and off the field. You must be a role model for your colleagues and the fans at every moment.”

Mbappe continued talking about his beginnings: “When I was in Monaco, my clear goal was to join Real Madrid, but at that time there was Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale, and I did not want to sit on the bench, so I chose to progress step by step.”

He continued: “Playing for Paris Saint-Germain was a wonderful experience in my career, but my real dream was always to play for Real Madrid and achieve championships with the royal jersey.”

Mbappe’s career with Paris Saint-Germain

Before moving to Real Madrid, Mbappe performed amazing numbers with Paris Saint-Germain, as he participated in 308 matches in all competitions, during which he scored 256 goals and provided 110 assists, achieving many local titles, but he was unable to win the Champions League with the French team.

Mbappe continues to shine this season in the Real Madrid shirt, as he became one of the main pillars of coach Xabi Alonso’s project, and he quickly became the new leader of the royal team’s attack, seeking to write a new chapter of glory in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
