Egyptian media reported that “Hamas” demanded the release of the former leader of the “Fatah” movement, Marwan Al -Barghouthi, in the context of indirect talks on Tuesday with Israel on the list of Palestinian detainees who want to exchange them with the Israeli hostages.
Since Monday, these discussions continue in the Egyptian city of Sharm El -Sheikh based on a plan presented by US President Donald Trump, and include the ceasefire in Gaza, the release of the hostages in Hamas in exchange for the release of Palestinian detainees, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Strip and the removal of Hamas.
The Cairo News Channel stated that “Egypt has started discussing the lists of Palestinian prisoners to be released from Israeli prisons according to the exchange agreement.”
She added that “the lists of prisoners demanding Hamas to release them include Marwan Al -Barghouthi, Ahmed Saadat, Hassan Salama, Abbas Al -Sayed and others.”
Israel arrested Barghouti in 2002, condemned him in 2004, and issued five sentences against life imprisonment for crimes and his role in the second intifada between 2000 and 2005.
The chief negotiator of Hamas Khalil al -Hayya announced earlier on Tuesday that the movement “wants guarantees from US President Donald Trump and the sponsoring countries to end the war forever.”
Al -Hayya told Cairo news that “the Israeli occupation tried it, we do not guarantee it or for a moment.”
He added, “The Israeli occupation throughout history does not adhere to its promises, so we want real guarantees from President Trump, and from the sponsoring countries, and we are ready positively to reach the end of the war.”
