Counselor Nawaf Abdullah Hamzah, Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority, praised the kindness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for launching the “Tree Week” initiative for this year, stressing that this national initiative reflects His Highness’s vision in promoting environmental awareness and consolidating the concept of sustainable development as one of the pillars of national action.
He noted His Highness’s directive to hold an innovation competition in irrigation solutions, aimed at stimulating creative ideas in investing in treated water and enhancing its efficiency in agriculture and afforestation, thus contributing to the sustainability of natural resources and achieving their optimal use.
Hamzah also pointed out that the pioneering environmental initiatives launched by His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister are consistent with the national legislative framework for environmental protection, which the Bahraini legislator has given great attention through legislation concerned with environmental preservation, thus enhancing the Kingdom’s position among the countries seeking to achieve a balance between economic development and environmental preservation.
This came during the participation of the Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority in the event of planting a number of trees on Prince Saud Al-Faisal Street on Al-Fateh Corniche in the Capital Governorate, in the presence of a number of officials, where he stressed that such events constitute a practical translation of environmental and legislative policies aimed at expanding the green area and achieving a more sustainable environment for future generations.
