Launching the first cooperation strategy between Egypt and Korea

Dr. Rania Al -Mashat met, Minister of Planning Economic development and international cooperation, with Park Boom J, the South Korean presidential envoy to Egypt, to discuss promoting ways of joint cooperation, in the presence of Ambassador Kim Young, the South Korean ambassador to Cairo.

This came on the sidelines of the Korean embassy in Cairo’s celebration of the National Day of Korea and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Egyptian -Korean diplomatic relations.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, the Korean Presidential Envoy, congratulated the celebration of the National Day of South Korea, which coincides with the passage of 30 years on the inauguration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, stressing that Egypt appreciates the close relations between the two countries, which has witnessed a continuous development over more than 3 decades, and this development is embodied in a various development cooperation portfolio, along with joint investments and increased trade exchange between The two countries.

She pointed to the mutual visits between the leadership of the two countries in the coming years, which represented a strong boost in the context of mutual keenness to enhance the strategic partnership, explaining that the choice of Egypt as a strategic partner for Korea in the field of development cooperation was reflected on the diversification of projects being implemented and focus on priority sectors.

She explained that the Egyptian -Korean relations go beyond the bilateral side to become an umbrella that enhances regional integration and cooperation in the south, where Egypt represents a gateway to South Korea to enforce the countries of the continent of Africa, in light of its relative capabilities and advantages in its geographical location and the axes of linking between the various countries of the continent.

She touched on her participation in the Korean African Summit, during which she signed a meeting with the Korean President, explaining that the summit confirms that Egyptian -Korean relations go beyond bilateral cooperation to regional integration to the depth of the African and Asian continents through trade exchange and joint investments.

Al -Mashat praised the recent successes that come within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, including signing the letters of understanding for the project of the Vocational Training Development Authority, and cooperation on the digital platform project for the General Authority for Export and Import Control, as well as the development of the electronic government purchasing system, and the second stage of Beni Suef Technological University.

On ways to enhance joint cooperation; “Al -Mashat” indicated the launch of the first cooperation strategy between the two countries, pointing out to the focus on exploring new fields that include: health care systems, green development, technology, industry localization, and supply chains’ initiatives to support the ability to face climate change, in the context of comprehensive strategic cooperation.
