Director General of the Northern Region Municipality, Lamia Al-Fadala, revealed that municipalities are currently working on establishing new treated water networks, as part of an integrated plan aimed at supporting the national afforestation plan and enhancing environmental sustainability in various regions of the Kingdom.
She explained that work is underway to connect treated water sub-networks to cover a number of vital sites, stressing that this project represents one of the most important axes of developing infrastructure supporting the agricultural and cosmetic sectors in the governorates.
Lamia Al-Fadala added that the responsibility of municipalities is to implement and maintain treated water sub-networks, while the Ministry of Public Works is responsible for managing and operating the main lines, stressing that coordination between the two sides takes place in an organized manner to ensure efficient access of treated water to all targeted projects.
She explained that connecting the treated water network requires completing a number of technical and administrative procedures, in addition to obtaining the approvals of the relevant service authorities, such as the Electricity and Water Authority, telecommunications companies, the Ministry of Works and others, stressing that all parties are working in the spirit of one team to accelerate the pace of completion.
