His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, praised the honorable achievements achieved by the Bahraini champions in the third Asian Youth Games “Bahrain 2025”, stressing that these results reflect the great development witnessed by Bahraini sports thanks to the great support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great king of the country, may God protect and preserve him.
This came during His Highness’ attendance on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the weightlifting competitions that were held within the tournament’s activities at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, where His Highness followed the strong performance and distinguished technical level of Bahraini weightlifter John Lopez, who succeeded in achieving a new achievement for Bahrain by winning two gold medals in the snatch and clean and jerk competitions for a weight of 94 kilograms.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his pride in this achievement, which is added to the series of successes achieved by Bahraini youth in various games, stressing that these victories are the result of the preparation and development programs pursued by the Bahrain Olympic Committee and sports federations, to enable athletes to achieve the highest ranks on the continent and internationally.
His Highness concluded his statement by congratulating player John Lopez and the technical and administrative staff of the national weightlifting team on this well-deserved achievement, wishing the rest of the male and female players success and continuing to raise the Bahrain flag high in the sky of the Asian Championships.
