The Union of Tourism Chambers celebration celebrated Dr. Khaled Al-Anani on the occasion of his candidacy for the position of Director General of UNESCO, where a documentary film was shown that reflects Al-Anani’s achievements in the field of antiquities and his support for tourism. The bright moments in his career were presented through this influential film. The celebration also witnessed an intense presence of ministers, ambassadors and representatives of the tourism sector.
The film began with footage documenting the stages of Anani’s life, showing his role as a university professor who helped graduate many researchers. He then moved on to work as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities during a critical period. The film highlighted prominent projects such as the project to transport the royal mummies, the opening of the Rams Road, and the development of the Giza Pyramids area.
The film, prepared by the Federation of Tourism Chambers, dealt with the challenges that Al-Anani faced during his tenure as ministry, such as the Corona pandemic crisis and the Russian-Ukrainian war, and showed how he was able to manage the tourism sector effectively and in cooperation with the political leadership, which helped put Egypt back on the global tourism map.
Reference was also made to the precautionary policies that were adopted by safety bodies, and the support for the tourism sector through the initiatives of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance, in addition to the National Tourism Strategy 2030 that was developed in cooperation with the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism, and these efforts were one of the most prominent features of his reign.
The film concluded by emphasizing El-Anany’s role as Egypt’s cultural face in international forums, and pointed to the historical moment that will coincide with the celebration of the Great October Victory, where El-Anany was elected by an overwhelming majority, becoming the first Egyptian and Arab to assume the position of Director-General of UNESCO. This was considered a cultural victory represented by 55 countries voting for him.
The film received great praise from the audience, who expressed their pride and support, expressing their support and encouragement for Al-Anani’s efforts and contributions to the nation, and expressing their hope for the future, which will be bright with more tourism and cultural achievements.
