American military personnel have begun arriving in Israel to establish a joint coordination center to monitor the ceasefire in Gaza. A unit of 200 American soldiers will work alongside regional forces, which operate from Israel without entering the Gaza Strip, according to Western reports.
This development comes in the wake of the announcement of a multi-stage truce agreement aimed at ending the conflict, as the process of deploying American forces in Israel began as part of international efforts to monitor the implementation of the recently announced ceasefire in Gaza. According to ABC News reports, this mission involves about 200 American military personnel.
Mission and operational scope
The primary role of the American unit will be to establish and operate a coordination center charged with supervising the truce. American officials confirmed that the forces will focus on key support areas such as logistics, planning, and security. It has been explicitly confirmed that these American forces will not operate within the Gaza Strip itself, but rather their activities will be limited to Israel under the command of the US Central Command (Centcom), led by Admiral Bradley Cooper. They will be part of a broader team that includes military units from other countries in the Middle East.
