Two years of war, the longest in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, took place in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 operation, leaving tens of thousands dead and injured, war crimes committed by the Israeli enemy that were not witnessed in contemporary history, a stifling siege that caused the starvation of nearly two million people, and provocative practices carried out by the occupation army that could have caused the region to completely explode at any moment.

This was met with a global popular interaction with the Palestinian issue that had not happened before since the establishment of the State of Israel on the land of Palestine in 1948, and despite the heavy price, this is considered a great gain for this issue that had already died, and then resurrected again in a stronger way, to the point that dozens of countries announced their recognition of the Palestinian state recently, led by Britain and France, which afflicted the occupation with a state of psychological defeat, which increased with the global isolation it witnessed for the first time. In its history, this was clearly demonstrated during the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, where most of the delegations withdrew from the hall at the time Netanyahu delivered his speech.

During all that period, there were attempts to conclude prisoner exchange deals and a ceasefire with Egyptian-Qatari mediation, and this was actually done twice, but each time the agreement did not hold and the war returned more fierce and the suffering increased.

Israel’s strategy has always been to continue killing civilians to pressure the resistance to surrender. Despite the pain, the resistance has persevered, along with the people of Gaza, whose sacrifices will be remembered in history.

Until we reached a very strange event. Israel bombed Doha with the aim of assassinating the leaders of the Hamas movement during their meeting to discuss US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire, but that operation failed, as Hamas leaders survived this targeting, but the political impact of that incident and its implications remained, as everyone realized that this entity does not see red lines.

Within days, Trump revealed his plan to stop the war, and invited Islamic and Arab countries, most notably Egypt and Turkey, to attend a meeting to present his plan, and it actually happened and it was announced that the participating countries had agreed to it.

However, its terms that were announced after that were extremely unfair, and provided the entity with a victory that it could not obtain with all the crimes it practiced, despite giving it the full opportunity to resolve the battle by force, but it was not able to do so. It was said that amendments were made to it after it was presented to the Arab and Islamic countries, and everyone waited for Hamas’ response, which came very quickly and intelligently, as they were unable to reject the plan that everyone agreed to amid increasing suffering for the residents of the Gaza Strip and to reach a situation that they could not reach. It is considered possible. The movement’s statement was that they accept the plan with conditions, and they did not mention the issue of disarmament during the statement. Trump, in turn, was quick to celebrate the idea of principled acceptance, and described Hamas as wanting peace. Their statement was published by the White House less than an hour after its issuance, as if Trump was here getting the opportunity he seeks and hopes to become a man of peace in the world, as he does not hide his desire to obtain the Nobel Prize.

Quickly, it was announced that the delegations of Israel and Hamas would visit Egypt, not Qatar, as was always the case. Turkish and American delegations joined, and discussions began, which did not take long until it was announced that an agreement had been reached on the first phase of a ceasefire in preparation for a complete end to that deadly war.

Here, it seemed that Egypt this time was keen for the matter to be on its territory due to its seriousness, and for things to be under control. Perhaps what was not announced was that the goal was to ensure a balanced agreement that would not completely exclude Hamas or end its presence, because that is not good for Egyptian national security for reasons known to the agencies that were strongly present on the scene, as the head of Egyptian General Intelligence appeared in the photos that were released of the meetings.

What confirms this is that news has been circulated about the dissatisfaction of Arab countries that saw that there is a good opportunity to end Hamas, and that Egypt is unwilling to do so. This makes us feel the greatness of Egypt, which was, is, and will remain the cornerstone and the tip of the scales when things go wrong or others go astray. Thus, it is clear why Egypt was keen for the scene of the end to be on its soil.
