The organizers of the “Global Resilience Fleet” announced on Friday “the” objection “of the last ship that continued its path towards the Gaza Strip, after Israel intercepted about forty boats preparing to deport its passengers to Europe.
The organizers reported on social media that “Marinett, the last remaining ship of the global resilience fleet, was intercepted at a distance of about 42.5 nautical miles from Gaza,” adding that in the past two days, “the Israeli Israeli occupation forces illegally intercepted our 42 ships, each of which transported humanitarian and volunteer assistance and the design to break the illegal siege imposed on Gaza.”
Earlier in the day, the Cyprus government said that a boat from the fleet of steadfastness, which was carrying aid to Gaza and intercepted by Israel, arrived at the island.
A government spokesman said to X that the boat, which was carrying 21 foreigners, requested anchors in Larnaca to refuel and for humanitarian reasons.
The spokesman did not clarify the name of the boat, nor did he mention whether it was among the boats that the Israeli army intercepted. The spokesman added that the Cypriot authorities, after registration of all passengers, provided them with the basic needs and provided them with consular assistance.
On Thursday, Israel faced a wave of international condemnations and protests after most of the boats participated in the fleet and detained more than 450 activists from Italy, Spain and other countries, including Swedish activist Gretta Tonbury. She said the activists would leave.
Italy said on Thursday that activists are likely to move to European capitals on rented flights on Monday and Tuesday. Four Italian parliamentarians were released and are scheduled to travel to Rome today, Friday.
