The Middle East Eye platform revealed that, earlier this month, Israel allowed 66 Palestinians and Turkish citizens to leave the Gaza Strip, based on an official request from Ankara.
According to the sources, the decision included 16 members of the family of the late head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, along with 14 Turkish citizens and 40 of their first-degree relatives (including spouses, children, fathers and mothers), within the framework of a bilateral understanding between Türkiye and Israel.
Gaza ceasefire agreement
This step comes following the ceasefire agreement in Gaza that was reached in the first week of October, where Türkiye was among the countries that played the role of mediator and contributed to convincing Hamas to participate in the negotiations.
The sources explained that five members of the Haniyeh family who left Gaza are directly related to Turkish citizens.
