I completely agree with US Vice President DJ Vance’s description of the Israeli Knesset’s preliminary vote on annexing the occupied West Bank as “stupid,” in addition to being a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Even if this Israeli step is just a “preliminary vote,” the fear is that this preliminary vote will be the beginning of the calm before the storm, which may make the world find itself facing a “second Gaza,” whose people have barely found any kind of peace, after the agreement to end the war that was made under American sponsorship, and the end of two years of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Therefore, if the Israeli Knesset’s decision develops in the future and moves away from the “preliminary” character, the Palestinians are threatened by a new and renewed Israeli aggression, but in the West Bank this time. These aggressive Israeli policies on Palestine are not surprising, and Israel does not need to take permission from anyone if it wants to implement these policies, including the United States.
Since the United States, through its President Trump, provided reassurances to the Arabs regarding the West Bank during his statement to Time magazine, there is a statement he made to that magazine that is difficult to agree with or believe, which is his saying, and I quote: “Israel will lose the support of the United States if it annexes the West Bank,” he ended.
This statement is very far from reality, as the United States will never be able to leave Israel alone, and that “the word” that Trump gave to the Arabs and the reassurances may go with the Israeli wind if its terrorism blows on the West Bank.
There is no more evidence that American support for Israel has not stopped than in Gaza, where American support for the Israelis was crystal clear. Therefore, Israel will drag America’s man with it if the Knesset’s stupid decision becomes a reality, especially since there is a photograph that showed Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian lands in Kafr Malek, Ramallah in the West Bank, and these Israeli attacks may be the beginning, as we indicated at the beginning of the article, and that the Israeli role has now come as follows. It appears on the West Bank after Gaza.
There are legal and moral obligations towards the Palestinian people from the international community, which is required to fulfill and adhere to them, and not to let Israel wreak havoc in Palestine whenever it wants to. International pressure is now strongly required to prevent it from committing new escalations against our people in the West Bank, while emphasizing the Palestinian right to establish its independent state, which must be supported by the United States in particular for the sake of stability and security in the region.
